With all the QC / lead paint etc. problems being uncovered in China, resulting in heavy losses and massive product recalls, I was wondering if the mic market will be disrupted. That, of course, raises a fundamental issue: If Chinese mics become scarce, then what the heck are you guys going to fight about?

Please plan now! Don't wait until the hammer drops, only to find there is nothing left over which we can all flame each other! Now is the time to establish your long term flaming strategies. Tomorrow may be too late!

God, wouldn't it be great if, instead of there being of shit chinese condensers, everyone would have to wait and save for one of the decent couple-hundred dollar mics?

What a world it would be *mm*

Hmmm. I don't know of a source for non-Chinese 10mm capsules :( And the Neutrik NYS series is made in China, I need those too.

Other than that, I am OK :o

All you folks that have been singing through Chinese mics are posting slower and not making as much sense lately.

Oh, come one now! I make good recording! Sound just like yu-eighty seben if use a rittl ee-qyu! Stock tube sound just fine!

I expect we will argue over which "vintage" Chinese mic is the best and hunt around for the "golden" out of production mics made with lead paint. Man, that lead sounds sweet! Heavy metal thunder!

IMO, the days of cheap Chinese knock-offs are numbered, thank God. I'll bet this is a long-term policy move by the U.S. to put pressure on the Chinese. Their stuff has probably always been just as tainted with whatever problems - we're just cracking the whip harder so they have to put more into their products and raise prices. Cheap manufacturing is good for consumers, but China has been hostile to us in their monetary policy for too long. We can find cheap labor elsewhere.

They all have lead paint, lead solder and tons of mercury in them.

If they get banned, they will become serious collector's items.

How great it would be to have a Behringer mic go for $1000 used?.

Stock up now eBayers!

if there is any sort of sanction or restriction placed on chinese imports it could effect not only the obvious cheap chinese import mic companies, but other companies you might not think of, such as behringer (oh well), celestion, groove tubes, mackie, chameleon labs, se, karma, mojave audio, blue (for their cables and their lower end 'ball' mics) and many, many others, as well as companies that manufacture products in the us with some chinese components such as peluso, charter oak, and many others.

OK, for sale cheap, my MXL990 with lead paint. A true collectors otem. Now only $6,000. Get it quick!!!!!!

I've yet to hear any Chinese mic that I really liked, so it won't affect my future equipment purchases.

sure, but not on the scale of china

don't forget that roughly 1/6th(if not more) of the world's people live in china alone. add them and india together, and you have almost 1/2 of the world's population.

200 million on Chinese imports, and China bought 40 mil from us....if thats not an unbalanced trade agreement I'll kiss your MXL990's $20 butt...it really makes ya wonder what in the hell is in your microphones, and not just toxic substances...Hey ....(I think) I buy USA made, Aussie made and England & Germanies best, but...are they? Do they have a little chinese in there? I don't even know for sure if my Harley parts are USA anymore, jeesh whats it comin' too. Are we economically conquered as the Japanese & Russians predicted?

I was just a nerd: 1.3 billion in China, 1.1 billion in India, 6.6 billion total. Works out to be roughly 36% of the world population combined.

I seriously doubt that the American Gub'mint will do anything too rash against the Chinese; Besides the political fallout, Chinese industry and their government can, on a whim, cripple the US economically. What I do forsee is the American/Canadian/European/etc. companies subbing out to Chinese industry getting the whip, which means that WE will ultimately take it in the shorts...Shit slithers downhill, folks...

Ah, but were those census numbers added on a Chinese-made calculator...if so, that's where the 14% error occurs.
