Trouble Getting Strong Signal from M-Audio Firewire Solo to GarageBand

I've got a CAD Trion 8000 mic > M-Audio Firewire Solo > MacBook Pro GarageBand. When I plug a guitar into Solo, it works great. With the mic, though, I'm getting a very faint signal. Ideas?

Assuming the obvious suggestions don't help - like make sure the input select button is pushed to front, and remove something plugged in the rear input, if there is something there, just in case that makes a difference on that thing...

My only thought is to make sure your mic works on another device as expected, or try another mic on your device - just rule out which one is causing the problem one way or another.

Checking the Solo's specs, the maximum gain is stated as 40dB. This may be on the low side, depending on what, and how closely, you are recording with the mic.

Have to ask -> are you SURE you have phantom power on??
