So I'm wanting to do some home recordings and put some metal songs together using EZdrummer and Cubase. I'm using a YamahaMW12 usb mixing studio (via usb) and Cubase 5. Trouble is, I'm having the issue of getting my laptop and Cubase to connect with my MW12. I've fiddled with audio settings, and have attempted to use Asio4All as a driver for the device settings, but it still reads inactive and am getting no levels on the audio track. I'm not sure where I'm going wrong with either the sound settings on Windows 7 or the device settings on Cubase. I just want to record some songs and get this started! Pleeeease haaalp

Does the mixer have its own driver?

Yep, it seems you have not done that, otherwise you would not have attempted ASIO4ALL.

If the model you listed is accurate, find the driver HERE. Download/install it. Then select it within Cubase. Devices>Device Setup...>VST Audio System. Select your unit from the 'ASIO Driver' drop down menu.

Then there's the bigger question of whether you can, indeed, record convincing metal using Yamaha gear at all... it's such an AOR brand... :D

Kidding, OP... :thumbs up:
