Trouble downloading from MX2424 Help please

Can somebody tell me what I'm doing wrong here please?
I am trying to get some MX2424 tracks (bu files) downloaded onto my Mac and import the SD2 files into Logic 9. Fairly simple stuff, right?
When I try to begin the download, I get the error message "an error occurred while downloading a sound file". Am I forever stuck with bu files? My MX is running on OS 3.11, MX View is version 1.4, iBook OS 9.2, MX settings: HFS+,SD2, 24 bit.
Here's what happens: upload bu files into MX View.
Load project.
File>import/export> select track
File> download>select format>SD2
Click Save.
"Import/Export error"

What's up?

You did it! It works. I'm downloading SD2 files all day long now. It's slow-going but that's because I happen to be using a USB drive for this. I can't thank you enough for your expert help. I posted this problem on four recording blogs, including the Tascam blog. One answer... Yours! The correct one.
The trick was to tape mode covert the .bu files before trying to download as SD2 files. I never knew that I had to do that. If that was in the Tascam manual I missed it. Thanks again. You made my month!
