This is most likely a newbie question, but hey, I'm a newbie. Anyways, I've already made 2 coasters trying to get a simple cakewalk project on cd. I've spent hours already looking through the help menu in CWPA9, and some more hours on this forum looking for answers.

Here's what I did:

1. I did a mixdown from my project to .wav
2. I dragged the project to Nero to record.

Results: a whole lotta static and no music.

I'm pretty sure I'm missing a few obvious steps, but this is my first time making an audio cd.

Thanks in advance.

I'm not familiar with Nero, and most likely that is where your problem lies.

However, to begin with, when burning a wave to CD, the wave file must be 16 bits and 44.1 Sample Rate. So make sure those are the parameters you select when you export the wave from PA9.

I assume you are trying to create an audio CD that will play in your car or stereo system. If so, you need to burn an AUDIO CD, not a DATA CD. I assume Nero gives you a choice in this, so make sure you are selecting audio CD. You will also find that you will have more widespread compatibility if you burn the CD using disk-at-once mode. See if Nero gives you that choice.

After the above, the rest is in knowing how to use Nero - and since I don't, I'll leave that for someone else.

dachay2tnr,

My first coaster was created with MusicMatch's burning program, and I'm pretty sure that I selected "audio" in Nero. I also have Roxio's Easy CD Creator. I'll try these things when I get home from work. Thanks for your response.

I'd like to hear from someone who has Nero, also.

When you say you dragged the project to nero, did you mean the .wav file?

I made a couple of coasters myself with Nero. I don't know why, but When I opened the .wav file that I created in Nero's wave editor that came with the Nero Software, and then saved the .wav that editor, my songs burned fine.

Again, I don't know what happend, or even if using Nero's editor was what effected the change or not, but that's what happened for me. my cd's have been burning fine since.

Badumboom1,

Yeah, I did drag the .wav file. How do you create in Nero's wave editor? Can you explain that process to me in a little more detail? Thanks.

Actually all I did was open Nero's Wave editor, and then opened my saved .wav file with Nero's Wave editor, then clicked save, but I don't think that that was the real problem anyway. I have since tried mixing down the audio to .wav then burning immediatly in Nero and it worked fine, so I don't know what the problem is.

Sorry.
