Yeah shem, it is true. There may be some real time control features that the rack is lacking, but I don't think so. The absence of the touch screen does mean a less intuitive user interface, but hey, I just wanted the sounds of the triton, so this was the way to go for me. I think most places carry it for $1599. I got mine for about $1529 because it was a blem return (I have yet to find anything cosmetically wrong with it, and it works fine.) so I got a real score. If you already have a controller, this may be a good solution - try it out in the store first to make sure it has the sounds you are after - although I believe it has the same ones as the keyboard - same sampler - same everything - I even think it can handle MORE expansion boards than the keyboard version (might be wrong about that) But I do know that the rack unit, unlike the keyboard, has mLan capability. That will be handy someday.
