I just bought a hard disk recording setup called tripledat for $250.00 (was that good?) has anybody used this before? It's 3.0 version and came with card and cables(Coax, Analog, Digi, Xlr) all in/out. You are supposed to use a Dat recorder but I don't want to by one if I dont have to. I was wondering if thetres a way to transfer from my mixer (24 ch Allen & Heath) board it has 4 sub group tape outs. I am new to this recording stuff, but have paid studio time (dont want to go there again) please heeelp meee.

It seems like great software even though its older
( mastering,muti-track, effects cd burn ... )

I can tell you that it is a excellent software and a great card.
I'm not all to crazy about the converters as there are better out there today but they are not junk !.

The software is very powerfull and the sync on that card is the best I have seen up till today. It is rock solid !. It will follow anything.

What is the problem with the transfer? use the analog inputs.

Although it is a bit older generation. ( I think its a ISA type correct?) it is still worth what you payed for it !

I haven't heard that name "Tripledat" in a long time. :)

(That's what made me want to start doing PC recording).

I am not sure about how much help (support) you can receive on this product.

But... for $250, you can't beat it.

spin

p.s. At least it will help you to become acclimated with PC recording. It will also save you tons of money, because of the time you save by doing your pre-production at home.

So, therefore, it pays for itself, you save money, and you're self learning.

That's a 3 for1. :D

So I can record right through the analog input, direct from my tape groups on my mixer? But only one track at a time? Or should I track Drums on my 4 track and then send each track through the the analog input.

The main problem is that the triple dat has only 2 inputs
so you can only record 2 tracks at a time, be it from any output you choose.

You will have to find a why to sync if you want to record onto the computer more then 2.

Just to clarify something I wrote about the converters. Dont misunderstand me ....the converters are very good. As good as some 16 bit cards in the market today.
