Triggering With ACID PRO 6

I was wondering if i were to buy a trigger and connect it with my mixer without a drum module, could i use the signal and substitute it with a sound from acid that is in the presets on the program.


IS THIS POSSIBLE????
 
Pretty sure you can with midi. I have my Roland TD-3 midi out to my Alesis IO and into garageband and use the kits from garageband.
