So I have been at this for hours with no luck. I have Cubase 5 and I run DDrum triggers for recording drums. I run the triggers out with an xlr to a 1/4" trs into the back of an Alesis trigger i/o that converts the notes to midi. I then have a midi out from the trigger i/o into a midi in on my PreSonus FireStudio Project. I also have ezdrummer plugin for drums. Basically I cannot trigger my drums properly. I need each drum to have a seperate midi track when recording and all linked to the specific sound on ezdrummer but I have no clue how. I created a VST instrument and also a midi track. The input is my trigger i/o and output is ezdrummerVST. Can someone please explain to me how to create a track for each trigger and assign it to one sound in ezdrummer so I can record drums? Thanks so much!

Duplicate posts? Is this your actual issue?

First thing I would recommend is downloading the maps for cubase under your products on your toontrack.com downloads page (under your user name once you log in). At the bottom of the downloads page click on the folder EZdrummer/host stuff/cubase/drum maps. Grab the multi out template as well if you like.

Second go ahead and setup a template as it will make life easier down the road. You can disregard what I put about ez player pro in this little deal.

3rd, there is no need to separate your midi tracks. Actually it complicates things later when you go to edit things. Just use the drum editor in cubase. It should open once you load the drum map I told you to download above.

You do so by:

Under the option "no drum map" click that and go to drum map setup...:

In the window that pops up you need to hit the functions pull down menu and select load:

Locate the drum maps I told you to download from toontrack.com and load the EZ drummer default one:

Now select that drum map under where it says no drum map (should now be an option the same place we went to do the setup for the map)

Now when you double click your midi events it looks like so and is much easier to edit than the piano editor. All of the note lanes are labeled accuratly with what each note does:

Thank you very much man. You're the only help I've gotten at all including calls to the companies. Is midi a desirable way to do drums or is direct in using just xlr a better way. Just weighing my options.

I have a rolland, the above way is how I do it. I just run ye old 5 pin midi cables into my mac and rock and roll.

I seem to still be Having issues. I have the drum maps but my alesis doesn't seem to follow the map. C1 should be a kick and it'll be a high hat. And it's like that for all of them

Yeah your problem isn't cubase or ez drummer then.

You need to use the GM setting on the trigger I/O. Just looked up the manual, it says kit 1 is the GM kit.

See if this helps, obviously he is using a really fucking nice set of triggers but the brain and the software is the same:

YouTube - Trigger EZDrummer With Electronic Drums!

EDIT: Nevermind, that's a pretty crappy how to. I imagine you would have to map everything to a custom setting, or like I said try the GM kit.

i have Alesis DM6, am using Addictive drums & am having problem in drum mapping in cubase 5.. please help..

Did you read this whole post? It has step by step instructions.

There is only a setting to map to the DM10 but it will probably work with the DM6. It's under the Beats tab of Addictive drummer and it's marked map preset.

If it isn't there you need to upgrade from version 1 of Addictive drummer.
