Now that I've logged a few times with it on live vocal I'm liking it more and more. It feels and works way different than the typical ball' mic sound (OM5 is what we use otherwise. It doesn't have the glassy 6k thing nore as much of the 'get big up close', the top's more wisspy' by comparison. But after getting used to how it does work -less variation via distance, it's sweet. :D
Nice on acoustic and wood instruments too.
Haven't done this in a 'rock/loud seting yet though.

Was this more of an acoustic guitar and vocal application?
I've used it in a single mic pick-up for voice and instruments where we try to work one mic in our acoustic band with light reinforcement, and a few other times on my vocal at normal club levels in an electric and electric/acoustic combination.
It sort of works like and has similar attributes as the RE20 in both of these apps.
And FWIW a blues band guitarist liked it on his vocal this weekend. (One loud setting anyway. ;)

I wish I could side-by-side the PR30 and PR40.
I would too, but might just try the PR35 (for vocals) just to see if it's worth the price jump. Also I have a pair of RE20's and I don't know how redundant these might be.

I have 2 PR20's and just recently tracked a band all in one take for a demo cd. They didn't want to track vocals separate so we did 10 songs in one take each. They did a variety of music. Some acoustic and some heavier stuff. I was amazed how the mics performed on the vocals. Very little bleed and the tracks came out great. I really love these mics! Definately a step up from the sm57's or 58 group of mics.

Up date- Just got a 35. Haven't used it myself live yet but my wife lent it to a lady doing a 'duo who loved it (she's wieghing 22 vs the 35), then shared it with the singer in the band she gigged with friday- He ordered one the next day.
:D
