what effect is used the make a guitar echo many times with very little time between each echo? ive tried Blueline's Delay and couldnt come up with any good setting for it, the ehcos always turn out too far apart. (ex: fuel-bittersweet during the chorus)

There are TONS of delays on the market for guitar. You need to try them out. Really, too many to list. Just type "delay" in a musicians friend search and see how many come up.

but is there any way to make the echo's closer together? ive got the settings under Mix, Delay, and Feedback. i really dont know what they do, i tried moving em around, no luck.

Try using a rotary effect, like that of a Lesley.

There's a rotary effect in my Akai DPS16 that gets that sound when cranked to the max.

I think the POD has a rotary effect, too.

I believe Tommy James used the same effect in "Crimson and Clover", on both guitar and vocals..... it sounded pretty cool.

I think I understand what you're trying to do.

Some people may disagree with me on this...oh well.

If you're trying to use delay on guitar, you need to use a delay pedal, either digital delay, or like a Memory Man, for the good stuff. When you're playing, you play off of the delay you're using as you're playing. You're not going to get good results trying to use cruddy software effects in your already recorded guitar tracks. IT's more about the actual playing technique than using a post-recording effect.
