I just mixed down a song that sounds pretty good to me. When I slapped it in my home stereo, the bass was alive on the visual EQ, all lines to the right of center were almost non-existant. Obviously, this is a sign to either lower the bass on my mixdown, or highlight treble somewhere...I know it's hard to answer this without listening, but I'm wondering if this is a common situation easily remedied. Thanks!
Jeff
P.S. I noticed, after popping in "Like a Stone" by Audioslave that the drums on that song contained the most apparent treble "boinks", noticable on the verse when all music stops except the beat. Is the drum track a place I want to tweek the EQ? I use a Zoom machine.

Stop looking! Listen!

Seriously, listen and listen hard...you'll hear where your problems are...if there are any. Meters can give you an idea of how you're using your available dynamic range, but you can't make decisions based on meters unless you know what you want to hear!

If you want some feedback on your mixes, post them to the mp3 clinic...they'll tell ya if you've got obvious problems.

Good luck,

Jeff,
But how did the mix sound to you on your home stereo?
Also, have you listened to the mix anywhere else? Try it again and dont watch the EQ.

Good Luck
