Trashy Bar Wench © Sk8boi 2003

(Verse)
Her name was Nicki
She sang a sweet song
But that all changed
It all went wrong
With her hair in tangles
She’s really a mess
But her Ferrari body
Is dressed to impress

(Chorus)
Trashy bar wench
Make a pass at me
Sassy little thing
Come and set me free
Crash my table
And let me see
All the lashes and the gashes
Where a heart should be

(Verse)
Puts her makeup on
In the mirror on the bar
A bit of cover up
For life’s little scars
A bruise on her cheek
And perfume in her hair
Pretty little face
Smiling everywhere

(Verse)
And she works so hard
For the life that she has
No one knows that
She’s just a little sad
And she cries at night
And asks for a way
To be someone else
For just the next day

Taking advice from a different post -

This was recorded in a spare bedroom, with an Ibanez RG220, a couple of Shure mics, an M-Box, and three or four loops from a demo cd. Roughly mixed in Protools. Monitored in really cheap ass headphones (I know, I know, I am saving up for a set of decent studio monitors).

Sometimes life doesn't always turn out the way you hoped it would. This song sort of illustrates that, I think.

Cheers.

This has a nice 80's retro rock feel to it. I love the guitar sound. Good job!

The vocals are clear and upfront here and you did a nice job delivering them. They definitely need a little more high-end EQ, but you're moving in the right direction and there is more right with them than is wrong.

Are you using an Octaver effect on your guitar instead of a bass? I hear like a slight delay on the attack of each note that is making the track sound sloppier than it should.

Another good song, nice work.

Thanks. I am still figuring most everything out here. I was told repeatedly that my first recording effort had way too much high end on the vocals, so I recorded them flat this time with a different mic (this is my second recording effort). It would probably also help to NOT mix on $4.99 headphones from Target, but I'm doing the best I can with what I've got. At least I know something moved in the right direction though. Thanks.

Effect? What's that? *lol* Actually, what you are probably referencing is a short stereo delay (like 20ms or something) on the guitar track which seemed to push the guitars away from the vocals as well as give them a weird little unique sound which I thought was fun. I guess it makes them sloppy too. (?)

Oh - if you're referring to the bass itself, then that would be hacked up and imported from a sound loop, and I think it may have a delay on it as well.

Another good song, nice work.

Thanks for taking the time, I appreciate the comments!
