I'm also a guitarist/singer and i asked 'the drummers' a question which none have answered. Funnily enough i didn't mention that i was not a drummer. Although, drummers, a funny breed can smell a 'non drummer' from a mile away.
I should use my brother who is a drummer to post questions about drumming on this forum and i might have more success!
In relation to your idea. I've got next to no idea. Other than the trap kat ??? is an electronic drum kit ? even that i'm only guessing... But i say... emulation will always be, emulation.
kind of like sex and masturbation.
