I want to take a song and raise it a half-step, from e-flat to e. Can I do it? No midi, just audio. I have a few plug-ins that say they do it, but they sound horrible. Sound Forge seems to do it, but all I have is the demo, and it puts in little 'beeps' as a copy protection thingee.

I of course could go to Kazaa and get a serial number for sound forge, but thats not my style. Any freeware plug-ins that can do this? Anything out there (free or not) that works?

David - have you tried Sonar's pitch shifter? I've never been too thrilled with it myself - but most of my useage would have been trying to correct vocals. You might get better results with an instrument.

Worth a try, plus you already own it. If I recall, you'll need to apply it destructively - so clone the track first.

Yup, I tried it, but it doesnt work that well. Someone sent me an Mp3 in e-flat (actually e-flat minor, yuck), and when I use a pitch-shifter, it turns out wobbly and less than accurate. I cant afford to buy soundforge just for this one tune.

So Ironic: we have technology at our fingertips that would have been unimaginable ten years ago, but I could have done this with my Fostex 4-track back in 1987 by simply turning a knob.

Hey, Mike , you have a first name! Cool, it is always fun to know someone's real name on a BBS. My real name is............................. David. I didnt put a lot of thought into my screen name here, In my violin nerd forum I am called Kabal:cool:
