Transporting Cymbals!

Hello all, I am very new to drumming and have a question about transporting and storing cymbals.

I know a hardcase is the best for transporting cymbals so I ordered one and am waiting for it to come in. In the meantime I have a few gigs, and I have a cymbal bag so I was wondering, is it best to lay them on the bell side? Lay them down so the tops are facing up, or to stand them up on the edge? Also I have a bunch of extra cymbals in my jam space so I was wondering about the best way to keep them too!

Would I be better of standing them on their edges individually or stacking them up biggest to smallest and laying them on their bell side facing down or up? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

If in general storage I stand them on the side. When transporting in a soft shell case, I wrap each cymbal in a light fabric (so they don't rub together, surface on surface)

Are you really asking this? Store them in such a way that they don't slam you in the back of the head when you hit the breaks, repeatedly knock into the bass drum with every left turn, or fly out the window with every right turn. Come one man...they're metal...in a case. They're not glass. Use some common sense.

I don't see what is so stupid about this question. They are metal, but they do break. They are expensive so I just want to make sure I am taking care of them properly and someone had told me that standing them on their edge was bad for them, someone told me it doesn't matter and I wanted to see what the majority of drummers thought. Thanks to the guys that answered.

You know, it doesn't make you look cool being a smart ass on the internet.
