For 17 year olds making this their first recording attempt, this is great.

Good (for 17 yr old kids) sure... Great... I don't think so. Pretty good for 'home' recording...yeah...sure... Great...no..I don't think so either.

anyone else confused???

oopss...caught me there, Mr Lawyer... should I just say it all sucks instead!!!!???;)

no...seriously, you guys ARE doing great. Just don't let the doorway get too small.

I am rootin' for ya btw... I think your engineer is too:cool:

hahaha you said root. lol

we got some radio play lastnite, that was pretty cool.

Of course I am. :)

As far as M Brane said, I think that he was right about the bass intonation, and wrong about the chorusing, as there is no chorusing, its just a little reverb and the doubling isnt dead on tight so it gives a chorus-like wavy effect.

Hey you guys got played already? Thats cool... was it loud enough or do I need to go through and slam the levels a little a more? Which song was it?

it's a station out of glasgow, we played a show with a band called pylot, their guitar player does the local thing on 103.7 the point for glasgow, bowling green, more souther cities. he heard our stuff, liked it, asked for a cd, and we got played the very next day. it was pretty cool. i'm sending "drift away" and "the light" to the fox and lrs respectively. i'll be doing that today.
sounded fine to me. :) oh, and he played end of times.

Everything's been covered I think. That second verse really needs to be resung. Sorry, but he needs to try some new monitor volumes or something and retrack that. Great voice and good delivery, but that pitch is really off. We can candy coat it or whatever, but it is really distracting. And I know he's 18. But there are plenty of 18 year olds who sing in key. And I'm not trying to be mean, but I really hope he's getting lessons because he's got a shitload of potential.

Stick with these guys, Paul. You're doing good things.

Transpire, I wish I had this kind of forum available to me when I was 18. I'm sure we all do. So take advantage of the honesty when it comes your way. You guys strike me as being pretty hard workers so you should do well I imagine!

I hope I'm not making any enemies with that, but I can attest that my own pitch has improved partly because people here called me on it. And they did it because they cared enough. Except mixmkr...he's just a dink. (Dude, you know I'm joking...put down the axe.)

:)

Which song are you talking about? He knows he needs some work, says he's going to take voice lessons. None of the other guys read on here, I'm not sure how they would take your comments, but I don't mind honesty as long as it's not in a hateful way.

I definitely wasn't looking to insult anyone. Lord knows I have had and still have my own pitch challenges. That's why I know how important it is to hear it from someone else. Some very good song writing from you guys by the way. Which is, as far as I'm concerned, one's best assett- the ability to make something of nothing at all.

listened to 'end of times'

the recording sounds very lo-fi and the singer starts to really choke as the song goes on.. He didn't start off too bad, but it entered suck mode before the end.. something sounds a bit out of tune at times.. I'm not just talking about the vocals.. the drummer kinda sucks too..

Lo-Fi?

You must have listened to lo-fi, then. I have pretty good ears, and I dont hear that on this end at all. Sounds pretty clean, really. I can pick out a crap recording from a mile away. Unless the MP3 conversion killed it, then there is something wrong on your end.

Ya, I don't think I would describe it as lo-fi either Sam. Pretty thick on my end actually. In fact the guitars sounded particularly nice to me. Wrong button maybe?.

td,

I have 2 agree with the outa tune vocal and guitar parts.
On the positive side...the feeling is there.

Nice crunchy tune.

But the vocal especially, takes the focus right off the tune.

I feel the tune is on the right track (pun intended)

I did the same thing in Triple M's thread! It was coming out of both speakers but one of the jacks were out.. I realized that when I popped on mixmkr's tune and it was the same thing.. sorry about that.. the mix sounds much better!

Hmmmmm. Could have sworn I heard chorus on those clean guitars during the verses.;)
