Here is my latest. It's been a while since I've touched this one. I started it back in February and I left it on the back burner. I think it's finally done. As always, I would appreciate it if you'd listen and offer feedback. I understand if you don't. Thank you.

That's a cool song, you have a great metal voice.Performance and recording all sound very well done to me. I only wish I could make out the growling screams in the chorus better, not louder just more defined in the mix. Same thing for what sounded like some nice echoing guitar work at the end of the chorus, I think I heard that but it was really faint. For some reason this came through a little lower in overall volume than most of the soundcloud links I listen to hear. Again, really good song, nice job on it.

Thank your for listening and giving your feedback and compliments. I agree with what you said about the screams. I adjusted them and now I think they make more sense in the mix. I brought up that lead guitar so that it stands out more. I adjusted the volume so that it's a bit louder but I think it still has good dynamics. Some of the vocals sounded kind of hollow to me so I changed that as well. Here is the new mix:

The player is acting funny. If you click the link at the bottom, it should take you to the song.

Just for fun... Here's a sample of the original song that was recorded at Turkey Vulture Records in 2011. It is shit. That's why I chose to re-record it. The song deserved much better than what it got. The whole album did. It's a night and day comparison.

Awesome stuff man! My only nit is the snare. Bottom mic in there? Not a fan. It's sizzly sound steps on the vocal, which is great by the way.

I have no problem sending you some SS Trigger Plat samples you could try out if you want.

i thought the vocals were great. Good singing. Good tone.

The guitars are a little undefined and washy in the intro. Once the song gets to the verses they sound OK.

The song needs a stronger low end. There is very little kick and bass. The snare is kind of hyped in the upper mids.

+1 on the snare

Thanks for the replies, guys. I'll definitely work on that snare sound later tonight. I appreciate all of the nice words on the vocals. I'll go in and thicken it up a bit, too. I'll post the new mix as soon as I'm done. Jimmy, if you have a link to those samples, send me a pm. I'll see how it goes.

Hey your re-recording sounds much better than the amazon sample - nicer guitar tone and textures. It's not a genre I'm too familiar with, but it sounds really well performed and polished. Well done man :)

In terms of nits, I agree with triplem about the bass line - it's kind of indistinct and sounds like it's panned over to the left where it does come through. Get that addressed and the above feedback about the drums and I think you're done!

Jimmys69 has it right, the raspiness in the snare asserts itself a bit too much; and in general, for me, the whole master EQ curve tips a little toward 8KHz, and leaves the lower register kind of neglected. A bunch more pop from the kick drum, some meat (125Hz) in the snare, More throb and definition from the bass. The rhythm guitars some really really good, smooth, well defined. I can't understand the screeching in the bridge... Your voice is great and the tune is solid, memorable.

Thanks for listening everyone! After 49 tracks I think it's finally done!

I kind of started over with the mix. I broke it down to nothing and built it back up. I think I've addressed the bass and drum issues. I think the whole song sounds better. I got rid of some unnecessary tracks that didn't make sense for the song which allowed me to accentuate some other parts like the strings just before the screaming comes in. I even recorded some new screams to add some definition.

I got rid of that snare sound. I decided to use two snare sounds layered on top of each other to get a better sound. I did the same with the kick drum. Overall, I think it's been improved. Here's the new mix:

Much better on the snare, but I still find it a bit funky/un-natural to my ears. If you wish, just send me a wav file of the snare track solo'd as well as an MP3 of the tune. I can send you back a couple different snare options. Kick too if you wish. Just need a solo'd track of it. Oh, and no effects on either the kick or snare wav's.

PM me if interested.

Yep, it's definitely closer, but for my taste, the snare is still a bit assertive, and the kick could still pump a little more. But yes, this is more cohesive. Take Jimmys69 up on his offer; he's got a bead on it...

The snare definitely needs some treatment of some sort. It's leaning very much to the high frequencies. It needs some body to it, down in the mid/low mid frequencies. I could use some more beef to the kick drum as well. But I understand that a clicky kick is appropriate for the genre, so I may be biased in the wrong way there.

The guitars sound awesome, vocals are terrific as well. Everything honestly sounds well mixed and in my face. There's maybe too much in the high frequencies on the screamy parts of the vocals, they're kind of piercing on my system.

Ok, guys... I took a decent break from this song and went back to it today. I really like this mix! The snare is fixed and a whole bunch of other things were tweaked and improved. Here is the brand new mix! As always, I appreciate your feedback and advice. I hope you like it.

Here is the .wav if you are interested.

Hello everyone! Here is an update! That last mix had the snare way too loud and there were a few other things that weren't sitting well with me. So, I changed a few things and came up with this. Here's the newest mix! All feedback and criticisms welcome!

Here is the .wav if you are interested.

First off...Being TITLED Metal...With a DEAD in the title, I almost just passed as I would not be the best expert on this as a Country Artist....I'm a Singer/Songwriter...

Mix is well balanced...What I liked most is the Vocal...Cool relaxed vibe, fits the track perfectly...like the changes...

well done and surpisingly Easy listening....Good job all around

Even though it's not your genre, I appreciate you listening and giving some feedback. The mix in the last one was ok. I think this new one is better. I really need to stop touching this song. I'm pretty sure it's finished now. I think I have achieved satisfaction! Here's the newest mix. Thanks for listening and for your excellent feedback!

I am still not a fan of the snare. It has no body. But then this is not my baby. The rest of the mix is sounding really good. The snare just ruins it for me.

Offer still stands to send you some other samples.

Love it. I like the vocal much better on the 2nd version, in the first version I felt I could hear too much vocal tuner type phasing going on. Yes, fiddle with the EQ on the snare to get a thinner tissue ripping metal sound.
