Transformer Box

Throught this whole board everytime a piece of high end gear comes up theres a motto "the sounds in the iron". SO if this is true running audio through a nice 1:1 transformer would impart this character on the track.(see where im going here?)

Why not build a box of nice transformers and run a clean preamp? (i am aware that for some designs eg.API the amplifiers used help a bit
 
Mixing out of the box, I found that there was hum between my converters and my console. So I threw a couple of ART T8s (8ch. isolation transformers) between them and problem solved. Even better, the side effect was awesome tone. Even from the cheap trannies in the ART.

So yes, I say do it. Even just for the hell of it.
