I need to transfer a recording from a cassette tape to a CD. I already have a CD burner on my computer, but I assume I need some software to record the tape into my computer, and then transfer it to the CD. What software would you recommend for this? Is there any shareware out there that would do the job or do I need to buy something like "Cakewalk"?
Thanks for your help.

Yo SumoMan:

If you need the tape transfer in a hurry, contact Emeric and send it to him. He will have a reasonable price.

I had some stuff done and it comes out pretty good. But, now, I have my own CD 2816 so I'm working harder.

Thanks for the plug there GH :)

suomibrad, you need 4 things:

1 - A cable, probably 2 RCA mono to 1/8" stereo male. Connects from the L/R output of your cassette deck to the Line-In on your soundcard.

2 - Software for recording. Since your working with 2 tracks/L&R, something like www.goldwave.com would work fine for you.

3 - Software for burning, adaptec EZ-CD, Nero etc.

I guess that's 3 things...

I think Emeric pretty much covered everything, but, you might want to consider using cool edit instead. I seem to remember it haveing a plugin for converting tape to CD.

Don't forget to try and take out the hiss. You'll have to ask others how to do it. I think I know, but i'm not confident to risk any resemblance of a reputation I have here. :)

have fun.

Cool edit

I'm interested in doing the same thing as Suomibrad. Which version of cool edit are you recommending? There's a big difference in price between the two trackers and the 24 trackers?
