hi all,

i've moved a bunch of split stereo .sd2 files from my old G4 mac to the macintel with leopard. all split stereo files have changed their icons. they are labeled as 'sounddesigner II file', but left and right channels have different icons and they don't play back, so i can't import them anywhere. see the screen shot for a left channel file.

any idea what's going on and how to get them recognized properly?

thanks,
stefan

You'll need to pull them into Pro Tools, as it will still recognize them. Then do a File>Save Session Copy In and copy them all to BWav files.

oh boy - i was hoping for a simpler answer, but thanks for pointing this out. all i have to do now is fix and resurrect the old machine, install the old protools software, load it with the old files... *sigh*. i know what i'm going to do over easter break ;-)

thanks,
stefan

Do you not have Pro Tools on your new machine? How many files do you need to convert?

oh you mean import them on the NEW system. geez why didn't i think of that! i just tried it and it works. there are a ton of files, but i suppose most of that can be done in the background, so it's ok.

wow, the solution was already on my system and i didn't see the forest for the trees.

thanks a bunch!
