I did this one a while back, but I thought you guys may dig it. (Maybe not... lol)

I wrote this one while I was waiting here in Denver for my girlfriend to get back from Portugal. Wrote it and recorded it in one night. (USA UP all night. ;) )

When I posted it at AcidPlanet, my friend Aidan Browne, who's an awesome British guitarist, downloaded the MP3 and laid these lead tracks down right on top and sent it to me. I said "Kewl" and he finished it up and I put it all together back here in the US. :)

The rhythm guitar (that starts out) was recorded direct through a $25 smoky pocket amp into a Joe Meek preamp, then run through a Bassman amp model in Sonic Foundry's Acoustic Mirror. (Sounds like a lot of hassle, but it was before I had a "real" direct guitar preamp, and it works for late night recording. :) )

Hope ya like it.

This link should work:

Seven Hours

If it doesn't, try here: Alex's page and listen to "Seven Hours."

Let me know what you guys think. :)

WOW. GREAT SONG.

~3:55, maybe gradually bring up that lead towards the end of the song...

And the ending sounds a little abrupt.

That's a kick ass sound, dude. I can dig it. :D

I've done several of these collaborations myself. What I need to know is: have you ever met or jammed with the guitarist or do you just know him through Acid Planet?
What I heard from the recording was the parts understanding each other quite well.

Thanks guys!!! Never met him face to face. I've known Aidan through AP for quite a while, and he's a damn good guitarist.

He fits guitar parts together really well... I can do that sometimes, but other times I really struggle with it. This one has two really simple parts from me, and he did all the elaborate, layered stuff.

I like this song... Like I said, I wrote it in an hour or so and recorded it the rest of the night. A friend of mine in Texas said his 6 and 8 year old daughters dance around singing the "Midnight in Colorado" part. Now THAT'S a compliment... Maybe I'm the next Brittany? :D

For the low res nature of how you did this, the mix is very well balanced.

Nice job.
