I have an Acoustek Godin that I want to swap for a decent nylon string. I don't know if I should get one with a built in pick up or not. I have zero experience with nylon acoustics. Any suggestions? Price range should be between $400 and $500.

Thanks!

It's more than you said, but I find this to be lovely. I played the steel string version; it was very nice.

hey there

don't know whether they are available in the US, but i bought a beautiful guitar from a company called Admira.

It has a fantastically good pre-amp module, which also features a small mic as well. This produces an amazingly accurate sound, so much so that i've stopped micing my classical guitar parts altogether, and now just use this guitar plugged straight into my pre. you can blend the sound of the mic and the pre with a slider control.

mine has no lower cutaway - but i think they do a model with one if you need tope of neck access.

i think at the moment, the model i have is the lowest one with a piezo and mic - it might be called the 2000FI (letters might be wrong) or something like that - but i know it cost me just short of £400 (UK) including a very good hard case.

try one if you can - i'd been searching for literally years before i found one i liked as i trained originally as a classical guitarist and was being a bit purist about it! (much to the frustration of my best friend who i kept dragging round guitar shops!)

the final decision came down to the Admira (who i'd not heard of at the time) and the Yamaha equivalent. They also do one with this dual system, but to be honest, even though the sound was okay, the guitar itself just felt all wrong. it felt like a steel strung modded to take nylon strings.

thing about the admira is that it feels like a classical should.

hope you find something

harmonious wishes to you
