im using a tascam portostudio2 MKII...after i record a track and i go back to record another, while listen along to the first one in my headphones, i can hear both tracks in my headphones....it only happens with certain tracks, mostly track 2 i think..
im recording acoustic guitar and i can hear myself playing just fine while listening to my previous tacks through my headphones, but when my second track bleeds though its so loud and is killing my ears. (i already have a ringing there from playing in live bands..ugh...) maybe its just because im using the most basic 4 track recorder still made, or do i need to fix it? does anyone even use the portostudio2 at all?
hehe

It sounds to me, pard, like your trusty steed had reached the end of it's long trail.

What your hearing is almost certainly crosstalk between the tracks. With 4 tracks crammed onto 1/8" tape the resulting track width is only 1/32" so head alignment is crucial to continued performance.

Maybe there's an audio repair shop in your town that knows multitrack cassettes and can put the machine back in alignment. Go down the Yellow Pages and call even the ones with the small ads - they sometimes have the best prices anyoldway! Or consider buying something new - you get a whole lot more machine for your dollar these days than you did back when you bought your portastudio.

Good luck and welcome to the board...
