Is there any possible way of tracking a beat on cep?!

In other words I chopped the beat up, putting each instrument in individual tracks in order to be able to mix it [drums, strings, etc.]

What I do is hit play on the synth and I try catching the beat as it loops and start recording from there for about 4 minutes, then when I have every instr. recorded I hit play on the cep and of course I get an off beat sound so how or what do I need to do to have every instrument in every track be where they are suppost to be so the beat can come together???

is cutting and moving the only way to do it?

you mean you have each track in its own row in the multitrack view of cool edit? you can just right click the entire block of sound and move it right or left to line up with the rest of your stuff. zoom in a bit to get it more precise

compare the beat with a metronome, you may find your problem there. Make sure your beat stays consistent....and if the beat changes, make sure the tempo of every instrument changes to the same tempo....maybe what you're trying to overlap isn't in time with what it was originally with (I tried editting a drum track recorded by a drummer with NO TIME....he played one part like crap, but I didn't know until it was WAY too late to re-track it, so I tried to edit in the same part from before, where he played it better....off time with the guitars and bass recorded to the original screwed up beat. Never got that one to work....)

Lesson Learned: Make your drummer record to a metronome....
