Probably a little involved of an issue for quick easy-fix type replies, but I have an issue regarding recording. My tracks for the most part are a drum machine, guitar(s), bass of some sort, and some vocals. The individual tracks sound great, but taken collectively they don't stand out. In other words, when mixed down the individual tracks don't stand out well. Kind of like the whole is less than the sum of the parts.

One thing I think I'm doing is using too much mids in the guitar parts. Another issue is I need to start mixing down using reference speakers rather than headphones. Any other suggestions?

mix

each instrument and part must have its own space in the mix, you get this with eq, what are you mixing with the mr8, no eq, mine sounded the same way, had to go to the pc and mix with software to get control of the eq and spacial nothces for the parts

or get a mixer, that gives you some eq at the board, or add a 31 band eq and compressor to the mixer and carve out the mix that way.....

Thanks

Thanks. That's a pretty good article. I read through it, but I'll read through it again when I have more time.
