Im newbie to cep , and im having a problem recording. my bass track. Ok here it is,
on track 1 I have inserted a drum wave to play along with,

-which I would like to use for my mix
on track 2 I try to record my bass, and it records, but with the drums also being put on track 2.

How can I record my bass and have it seprate? and have it sync up to the drums
any help would be GREAT!

The way I understand your problem is that when you try to record the bass, the drums also come out on track 2.

It sounds like you have a problem with your recording device.

Cool Edit is recording what it's outputting as well as what is coming through the input.

Check you have the selected the correct recording device.

No luck

Still get the same thing drums on trk 2
thanks, any other ideas?

i was havin the same problem...depending on what sound card you have...it should be in the sound card mixer theres some buttons for record and voice or somethin, and each one has buttons for wave, synth, cd, mic, aux, modem, tv, maybe some others or maybe not all of those...but when recording a second track, only have the 'aux' or 'mic' record ENABLED, or make sure 'wave' is DISABLED...that should fix your problem...on cheaper sound cards there might be a little trace of the drums in the background of a solo'd track, but it shouldn't be much of a problem...good luck folks...

almost there

that worked, I could rec. 2nd trk without bleed through from channel 1. However now I cannot hear chnl.1 to rec. chnl. 2.
Do I need a different sound card to do this? im using an SB16
Thanks

When you open up the windows mixer go to Properties and make sure that you have Record selected. There are 2 different mixers for record and playback. You can have everything turned on for playback if you want but only turn on the Line In for recording a new track from outside your computer. Turn on Wav or Midi to record interal sounds.

Oh Joy!!!!!!- (can you here me say YES!)

Ok It works thanks everybody for the help.
there is one thing just
in case any of you encounter this problem again.

through all the changes i tryed I must have really messed up the cep's way of interrpeting things because even after I tried everything above it still did not work.
So I sayed screw it and did a complete uninstall / reinstall tried the above ... and poof ! it works.
