I would like to use my PC to record multiple tracks simultaneously onto my hard drive using a multitrack software package(i.e. Cool Edit Pro). Let's say for the sake of discussion that I have a multiple channel audio interface that would allow this. The sound sources(drums, guitar, vocals, etc.) that I would like to record are all in the same room as I can't afford a to build a studio with isolated rooms for each source. The problem with this, of course, is that each track will contain audio cross talk form the other tracks due to all the sources in the room bleeding into each of the mics. My question is, are there any software plugins/packages that would analyze each track of audio and subtract out the audio crosstalk from each track? I realize that if this is even possible, it's probably not an effective means to isolate sound sources. I am just curious if there has been any attempts at this by software developers or possibly research in this area. I would appreciate any feedback that could be give. Thanks.
