Ok, I like the spin on the song. Definitely a different dimension and it adds a vibe that brings credit to the song. Must have been a challenge and you come across as being up to the task.
I really don't have comments on the mix or arrangement except possibly the vocal, I can hear the room. Or maybe it's a real short delay that sounds like an untreated room. But it works with the vibe and probably shouldn't change it.
I almost passed it by, but I'm glad I listened....
Actually, it is probably both . I track stuff in my den...smallish with no treatment but lots of stuff packed in there - doesn't sound too bad sometimes. At the last minute, I threw a short echo-like delay on the vocals and I quickly took a liking to the oddly processed sound that resulted. In retrospect, they may have been ok without it. Thanks again!
Yup, see above response. I think the vocals may've blended a bit better before the above-mentioned delay was added. I will try a remix with this in mind...Thanks!
I have uploaded a new mix (same link at top). I backed off the delay on the lead vocals by about 50%-60%, and it seemed to smooth them out a bit. I didn't touch the bgvs at all though and now the relationship between the two has changed...hopefully not for the worse.
There is still a fair amount of reverb on the vox...still too boxy?...any better?
Also, the transport on my cassette deck seems to be dying a slow death . On the first mix, there was quite a lot of telltale warbling associated with varying tape speeds. It ran a little smoother this afternoon so there is less of that on this version .
