Geez, this is an easy one. The best mic for under $120 is an original U47 for $110 at a garage sale.

C'mon, get with the tough questions.

Yeah, I saw one of those once, but the guy wanted an extra $25 for the power supply, and I couldn't talk him down to $120 total, so I passed on it.

My musician friend - DJ Smackahoe - said that all MXL mics were wack.
He said that their compressor mics were made of Chinese foreskins.

That doesn't sound like something I want to wrap my mouth around.

I've heard you can buy a cheap 50 dollar tv set and run all the plugs into your computer, so you can shout into the speaker (like a yamaha sub-kick) and shine your face into the screen and make a video at the same time.

You can probably find some cracked software somewhere on a cd for like 5 bucks on the internet and as they say; "U iN bIDnEsS"

Why mess around when you are so short on cash? Go for the sure bet, and get anSM57. Used by pro's for years, a studio and live standard, dependable, will take a beating, and has many, many, many uses. If you are on that tight a budget, why take a chance? Any pro will tell you that a 57 is a must have.

I don't test things out first (I'm just not into that kind of thing)- so just tell me what to buy, and I'll buy it.

OK extreme one, go get any mic for $119 because they will all sound the same as long as it is a LDC chinese mic.

Just buy any old toy mic and it will do! dkelly's advice of a SM57 is good, for that pocket about $30 bucks and buy something else.

I would suggest the Nady StarPower SP-4C. That way, when you find out that mics under $120 pretty much universally suck, at least you're only out $10.

Okay, so the Apex ribbons probably don't suck, but for the most part, you do get what you pay for.
