ok i have a radio shack keyboard hooked up to my lexicon omega, like so Midi out on keyboard to midi in on omega and midi out from lexicon to midi in on keyboard ....am i way off?

That sounds right. You know that MIDI isn't audio right?
When you record the Radio Shack keyboard, you're recording MIDI events (if you set up your software for that) and when you play back it should cause your Radio Shack keyboard to play out of it's own speakers.

Route the audio output from the Lexie into the LINE IN of your soundcard.
Adjust your level and arm a track and record.
