Came across this new piece a few days ago. It's not like an impulse response. It recreates the different mics' harmonics and all that other technical bullshit. Anyways, at 1 grand it's worth checking out, considering you'd spend a little more than 1k for all the mics it emulates.

Not unexpected. Virtual mics even appear in mfx units as part of the cab or vocal chain parameters, and---how long has the liquid channel been around? It would seem to me that a mic like the CAD M179, with it's continually-adjustable patterns would have addressed the immediate issue of pickup pattern selection (while maintaining flat response and low noise) and something like an SM7b or SM57 would have provided great off-axis noise rejection---there are some physical issues to be addressed. But, as the video concludes, more mic and preamp models are promised, so start saving now! It's the future, already here. GAS where no GAS has gone before! The only question might be "Are you waiting for the Behringer V-MIC version?"
