Is the toontracks solo any good for creating drum patterns in a stand-alone environment? I've been trying for over a week to get the demo of Addictive drums to work with N-Track, my interface program, with no luck. Perhaps a stand-alone application would work best for me. Thoughts?

Solo is an application that allows you to use Tonntrack products (only)(e.g., EZdrummer & DFHS suite) without needing a sequencer/host (i.e., N-track, Sonar, etc.). Solo is really geared towards the e-drummer for playing/triggering the samples live without all the overhead associated with a host application. Solo does not create patterns it is a surrogate host with very low overead, nothing more.

It sounds like your issue is with N-Track. I don't have N-Track running but, I assume it allows the use of plug-ins? Addictive Drums is just another plug-in that gets loaded. Once loaded it should be just a matter of routing the inputs & outputs correctly. However, without more details that's about all I can offer at this time.

Simman,

For more details on this "adventure" I've been on, see this thread:

You've already given me some advice, but I simply can't get N-Track or AD to play nice together...I think it's just me, but perhaps it is my host program...

Thanks again.

I am regeisted N-Track use but haven't used it in many years so I am a bit at a loss :( I will see if I can download the lastest version and see if I can't get it talking with Addictive Drums.

OK, I download N-Track (5.1 demo) and Addictive Drums works just fine :D

Details found in the MIDI help menu (N-Track) VSTi/DXi Instruments plug-in.

How to use a VST/DX instrument:
1.) select the desired VST or DX instrument to use in the Add Channel / New Instrument Channel menu (Addictive Drums shows up under the VSTi section)

Once Addictive is loader if you click on the drums on the screen (Addictive Drums screen) you should be able to hear the drum that your clicking on. If not you need to open a MIDI track’s Track properties dialog box. The MIDI output port drop down box should now contain, besides the regular MIDI output port, an entry relative to the VST/DX instrument plug-in.

Once you hear a drum by clickin on it go to the beats section (upper right of screen). If you click on a beat drag and drop one into the N-track track. Push play and you should see the MIDI info in the track and hear it being played by Addictive.

Let me know how you make out. If you still ave a problem PM me.
