alot of people say how the snares in toontracks "drumkit from hell" expansion are very THIN and Bright sounding............so here is a tip that works well to solve it.
to bring back the "woody" and "meaty" sound back into the snare, i used WAVES SSL4000 channel strip followed buy the WAVES L2 limiter, ........................and i set the EQ on the channel strip to boost the hell out of the 900hz-1k area by about 7 or 8 db, and followed into the L2 limiter set at threshold 0.0 (zero), and the output ceiling set to 0.0 (zero), but set the "ARC" automatic release control ON.
it works well! It brings back the meat of the snare, and tames that huge pierceing spike in volume that you get when using the DFH snares, it sounds full and thick again.......
this should work in the same fashion with other EQs and limiters (other brands).....
got any tips for toontracks DFH kit?..... lets hear em'!!!!!
