So a while back i posted about my situation in which we needed amplification for my singer desperately. I had a mixer and a few speakers that were used in my dads old restaurant, and i am going to grab the power amp later today or tomorrow. one problem. the amp is 1200 watts according to my unexperienced father. if i had speakers that werent rated for the high wattage, but the amp was on like say...1 or 2, would it still be too high wattage? or does volume control wattage. the speakers wouldnt be a huge loss, and thats on the list of investments we need to make soon. im kinda gonna need this pa setup soon so any quick feedback would really be appreciated. thanks alot guys

If you don't drive the amp too hard, then you won't fry your speakers. I've driven a pair of 50 watt speakers with a 1400 watt amp, and you can get reasonable levels from them.

cool

sweet thanks alot. also, i feel kinda stupid asking this but how bad is it to use a couple of hifi speakers in a pinch with an amp like that?

Just don't push them until they distorted...
