Hey, I just picked up a Crate PowerBlock (and case!) for $100. This little thing is fun!

I was reading on Harmony Central that some people carried these around not only as a back up amp but also to use as a PA. Not sure if I'd go that far with it, bit it's got a nice sound for what it is.

If I had my choice between a Epi Valve Jr. and this thing, I would choose this thing- at least for a while. (I sold my Epi a few months back)

150 watts in a box the size of a PS2 :)

... it's almost silly.

Just sharing the joy of my new toy.:p

I got mine for $79

a couple of years ago. It's a useful little thing to have around, but I can't say I'd agree with your assessment of it's sonic qualities. But then, I'm hard to please, so YMMV.

Seems definitely worth the price, at any rate, simply for it's flexability. I think it's most useful as both a practice PA amp (in a pinch) or a monitor amp, or a bass amp. Not the first choice for any of those, thus I wouldn't buy it with any of those as it's intended use, but as a backup, or for a garage practice multi-function tool, it's a no-brainer. I haven't exactly put it through it's paces in any stressful situations, so I can't speak to it's durability.

Enjoy.
