Tone Question....

I have a Peavey Classic 30. Just bought a Bad Monkey. Should I use the clean channel on the amp and control the gain with pedal, or use the gain on the amp and accent it slightly with the pedal?

What is a general rule of thumb?

Most pedals are designed to be used on the clean chanel, but if you want to get really dirty go ahead and use it on the drive chanel. It is a matter of what sound you are trying to get. If a pedal is a little noisy on the clean chanel it will be real noisy on the drive chanel. Some pedals (wah for instance) work equally well on either chanel.
