very sweet sound ~

when the song started with the guitar and even the first few lyrics reminded me of foo fighters "monkey wrench". Nice tune and nice recording job!

:D thanks!

Yeah, I got that same impression when I first heard the idea for the song

Well recorded Lee - there's a little LPC in the 1st phrase of the melody too and there's some RAMI in the chorus too.
This sounds like they've rehearsed as well.
My only comment so far is that the drums seemed very centred. Are you planning a little panning?

Thanks for the insight and the comments :)

Really, more RAMI? Man, I'm working up a curse here! Only kidding, I dig his work as well.

In actuality, I am helping in the writing of these and I was sort of going off the energy of a small Less than Jake tour that I had been on not too long ago. I figure I'd learn from watching thier energy on stage, then trying to put that into other tunes.

But when I played out some of the melody for the guys, I guess I had some Foo Fighters in my head as well.

Panning of the drums is definitely a work in progress considering how busy these mixes are going to be. Also, I went with the XY setup on the overheads this time, so it did narrow up the imaging a bit, but fairly intended.

Three songs uploaded as of current...

You Think He's Hollywood
My Alibi
Jenny was a Superhero

Jenny is is great - it avoids a whole pile of cliche's that would have rolled off the fingers with dynamics, percussive points etc. and manages to do a couple of surprising things as a result - there are enough classic postures etc to be comfy though.
You are a dab hand at selecting good material to work with.
Oh. I like the sustained chord ending & the little dink dink.
