Is the SansAmp Classic really worth the 50% more in cost of the GT2 version?
I want Amp/mic modelling so I then can add compression into my Korg D32 - to get a more 'real sound'. I am usually in a 'no mic live amp situation' (we live on top of each other here in Hong Kong) and if I use amp models in Korg 1. they're a bit crap and 2 can not add comp on top of chain. So I like SansAmp option and wonder why the extra buck for the classic and is it worth it?

Any other stand alone solutions? I have a Zoom multi-e unit with amp models (no mic options), but again a bit on the digitally thin side!

Answers on a selfundressed envelop please

I record with the Korg D16 alot. I use the Sansamp GT2 but I've never used the classic version. All I know is that this setup works unbelievably well for alot of different sounds. The GT2 may not look like it has many options, but you can get alot of sounds out of it. It reacts very much like a tube amp. I've tried the zoom and digitech pedals and they are actually about the same as the built in effects you have on the korg. I almost forgot to mention that it works great for bass too.

Tried a mates Pod 6 and got some great amp/cabinet models, but I am not really a multi-e kind of guy – the SansAmp attracts me cause it is a stand alone. I am a pedal junkie and I still really like ‘chaos theory’ of it all when looking for tones. I had a few customed as well so I don’t want to lose that analogue magic – despite using digital modeller at the end of the chain – mad probably
