Here comes a song I wrote and recorded a few years ago. It’s dedicated to my wife.
I did it all by myself. Vocals too (unfortunately for the listeners, but she insisted on that part). Both genre and language are strange:).
I am aware everything could have been done much better but by that time I was happy if it worked at all.
Listen to “To My Wife” here:

Is it worth retracking or is it best to write a new one?

Very nice. I liked the abundance of guitar tracks and even the extreme pan separation, it made the tune more unique. I couldn't understand the lyrics obviously but the tune had an eastern European feel for sure. Are you from a former Soviet block country? Thanks for the listen

Thank you Notfonts!
I have some old bad recorded tracks to deal with. It's kind a messy. Maybe if can retrack vox first and start with it. Language is Bosnian. Bosnia is former Yugoslav country and we never belonged Soviet block.
Still our language is sharing common roots with East European languages so you were right about that.

Good guitar and vocal sound. I'd say the song is definitely worth doing some more vocal tracking to get the parts really well in tune. Needs more realistic drums too. The guys around here are very nice about collaborating to do live drums for tunes... maybe do a mix without drums and go that route?

Hello Tim!
I tried to combine acoustic and el-guitars and honestly I think that I exaggerated with it.
(el guitar, bass, keyboards and drum machine was DI recorded)
I did not mention earlier but every single track was saved as an mp3-file.
It was supposed to be a test project and by that time there was not enough space on my HD.
I can try to retrack vocals but I don't think it would ever sound good enough.
I CAN'T SING.
My wife doesn't care and she insists me singing this one. I can hear everything what is out of pitch but just can't help it. I remember you, Tim, commenting my other song "Room No 52". The guy who sang on that one is going to sing on my projects but this one I have to do myself.

Drums are my everyday problem. I am aware of that. I was thinking about collaboration idea but since this genre of music was a little odd I gave up the idea.
I’ll reconsider it now.

Thank you for support. I appreciate.

I CAN'T SING.
I disagree, respectfully. Your vocal sound quality is good, it's just a litte pitchy. How many takes did you do of the main vox? I bet if you did 15 or 16 takes you'd nail it, or nail each phrase in various takes. I was really impressed with the Beatles approach to that when I read the book about their Abbey Road studio logs. Lots of their tunes had that many takes.

It is always fun when somebody writes about me and The Beatles in same post. :)
Thank you Tim!
I’ll retrack my vox. Maybe I’ll retrack everything and make it right.
See you around!

I like it except for the overdone reverb on the snare.
The slightly untutoured vocals give it a grounding & earthiness.
Actually too much reverb overall.
Good call & response across the stereo image too.
Good playing & simple too.
Nice guitar tomes throughout - nice to have some one use something other than the shred button.

sikter - Nice flavour to that Bosnian music.

Top notch playing and great tones on the guitars....

Very melodic and danceable - one of my favorite kinds of tunes.....

This mix is very good as it is now.

Just a few things mentioned by rayC and Tim that you could look into.

Definitely keep this and retrack if you'd like to try new sounds/equipment - no rewriting needed ! It's Very Good ! :D

I'm always looking forward to read your constructive criticism.

I liked it alot. I think if you want, just retrack everything and have fun with it. Don't scrap it!

Hey buddy,

Finally got a chance to listen to your tunes, and I am impressed. Very unique approach to melody and songwriting. I heard a lot of different influencies. I liked the wide stero seperation in "To My Wife", and the acoustic guitars in the end were very well done. Great job. Also, I really like the third song you had posted as well (Ballad). Very cool. The only one I didn't get was "52", but that's just a matter of taste. We all have our musical style preferences! Anyway, keep it up. If you're going to re-track the vocals at any point, let me know, because I'd like to have another listen. Also, you CAN sing well, you're just too self critical! Take care,

Thank you very much, blind_sublime!
It’s coming more and they’ll sound different. I don’t actually try to make an album.
I just experiment with different genres and see how it turns out.
I wouldn’t post my rock songs first because they are influenced by artist from The West
and they wouldn’t attract any attention here. I try to participate with something different on this board.
Balkan is place where West and East meet each other and that’s why music and everything else get special.
(Unfortunately not always with positive results).

Thank you, VspaceBoy. I’ll try not to scrap it. My wife wouldn’t appreciate that.
