I'm using TMD1K thru Delta TDIF card to Sonar 2.0 with Win2k and my comp is crashing (black screen to reboot) and warnings are appearing in the TMD's screen. Once it was "Warning- emphasis on TDIF1" & since it's been "Warning- Different F's TDIF1" Does anybody know what's up? Please help...

Sounds like a driver issue with Win 2k. I have the TMD1000 hooked to my computer via a PCI-822 card. The drivers for the card use to blue screen the computer. When I downloaded the new ones, it stopped, but the mixer always has the error you described. I have yet to figure out what it refers to.

I aaaalso have just purchased the TM-D1000 and the PCI 822 card. I am totally new at this and have not recorded yet. I have Cubasis but can't seem to get it to recognize the digital input from the TASCAM. What do I do next and what is the best software to use with this setup. Thanks.

What I've learned elsewhere is that it refers to word clock conflicts registered by the TMD, in this case when Windows crashes and it loses communication with the soundcard software. The only other time I got it was when changing the TMD clock setting while 'connected' to the software (i.e computer on)- solution: shut down both and turn TMD back on again first, change setting, then turn your comp. back on. What exactly F refers to I still don't know but...
I'm not familiar w/the PCI 822- (check clock settings & master/slave relationship if you're getting the error w/o Win. crashing). I'm also not familiar with Cubasis software. In Sonar you just click on a driver profile option and the TDIFs appear. Can't help beyond that. If your looking for software to replace Cubasis I highly recommend Sonar, though.

You can get the emphasis warning while booting your computer.

The warning happens when you first power-up before the driver settings are loaded.

The TDM-1000 isn't smart enough to detect when emphasis is turned off. With my Delta 410 card I can verify that emphasis is of from the cards control panel.

Then I hit the escape button on the mixer and all is well.

Same thing with the different format warning, all should be good once the driver preferences are loaded.

Thanks for the response. Actually, I haven't gotten the "emphasis" warning in a while (the computer now stays on so, per your explanation, I guess that's why) but I still get the "Different F's" warning on the TMD every time I turn it on. I just also escape out of it and go on. I've got some other problems right now with the Delta TDIF but once I get things working properly again I'm also going to switch to the seperate clock (BNC) cable instead of using TDIF clock & see if that solves some of my problems. If "F's" refers to "Formats", many thanks- I hadn't been able to get an answer to that anywhere, just an explanation that it referred to clock. Also, as for "emphasis", no one had referred to it as a 'function' that could be on or off, as opposed to the normal meaning of the word (i.e. pointing towards where the problem was). Do you mind explaining further what it is? Thanks again...

Start up your computer first.

Once your computer is fully on and finished its start-up routine, turn on the TMD1000.

Thanks, but the computer stays on and I get the error whenever I turn the TMD on. (Same when I shut it all down, turn the comp. on first etc) What I was wondering in this last case is what exactly "emphasis" is. Also, now I've switched to the BNC cable out of the Delta card into the TMD, made the Delta master, and when I try to reset the TMD master clock select to Word Sync In, I get "error! F's clock error>internal", even with the computer shut down and even with all cables disconnected.???

Hmmmmmmmmmmm, you might want to go over to the Tascam BBS.

I already have but thanks. I just hoped that "Gdoubleyou" (or someone) could expand on the information offered. I'm trying several forums simultaneously, believe me, but there's some things I just can't seem to get explanations to anywhere. Any help is appreciated though...

It all depends on what device is the master word clock, when I had the Korg 1212I/O I would get the the different fs (formats) warning.

I was using the korg as the master clock, syncing clocks is not instintainious. If the TDM doesn't detect a clock at boot up it (I don't always use the mixer with the computer)reverts to the internal clock default, I would get the message about different formats when I booted up my computer.

resetting the TDM to external clock did the trick.

If my memory is correct the manual has info on the error codes in the troubleshooting section.
