Hi evryone. I have a Presonus Blue Tube stereo preamp and now i need 4 channels. Instead of buying a second unit i thought of selling this one and maybe upgrade quality a bit. The Presonus is fine, but a little noisy with some sources that needs lots of gain... I need a clean and transparent preamp wits lots of gain and QUIET... I was looking at the TLAudio 5001 4 Channel Preamp. I didn't find lots of things to read about the 5001, so i'm asking here: what do you think of this preamp as a general purpoose all-around mic preamp??? Would this be a major upgrade from Presonus Bluetube? Also, if you have other suggestions, please post!!!

Thanks,

Regards

Phil

i have a TL audio 5001, used it yesterday to record an orchestra and choir in this big church. sounded spot on. i've used it on almost everything that one would be likely to run into in a live/studio situation and it has excelled at all of them .

Dan has good things to say about these Pres... This piece of gear has the same pres as the 5001...

I had thought about this Pre too. Still do. Many people here will tell you it's just a "Toob" unit, but I've seen the HHB radius10 in a few studios (thats the older model, the 5001 is supposed to be even better. HHB and TLAudio are the same.

For $650 I think it's a pretty good deal... it seems more budget minded people here would be all over it?

I've had a couple but with the new desk (solitaire) i couldn't hear a real difference between the tla and the desk's preamps...so i sold them but kept one (it looks cool!)

sometimes use it for kick/snare/bass/guitar
