There is a book created by one of members named garrigus.

It is called 'Sound Forge Power' by Scott Garrigus.

You can pick up a copy from any major book store.

Hey Spin, I think this was part of subtractor's attempt to enlarge his post count. He was really trying to get to 250 last night.

I'll give him my tips for using Sound Forge anyway:

Use it wisely

and

Use it often.

Yeah, so, I just started a lot of conversations. Some better than others. I was just referring to any tips or techniques that you employ that might not be known to the average user. Like for instance I saw a process once on creating an arpeggio through graphic editing...

No. I'm not sure what you mean. But while on the subject I would be interested in making perfectly timed samples for my sp-808ex. It's really hard to get samples to loop perfectly in time. I know it can be done. The sample disk that comes with it is full of them. Would it help in that endeavour?

Let's hear it even if that's not what your talking about.:)

not getting LOOPS to sync in perfect time leads me to believe you are not cutting it right...... anutha words

k - s - k k - s = boom snap boom boom snap

If this were the drum beat and I wanted to cut it perfectly I would do the following steps:

1. Put it with what sample i want to sync it with (Acid / Vegas) and manually aline it to fit.

2. Once I have the 2 patterns working together I would cut off or extend the ends on the drum beat to match exactly with the sample

3. Cut these points. Click on the cut piece.... right click and throw it into sound forge...... There I would fade out any pops or clicks that mayhave occured........ Render the bad boy as a wave loop.......

4. Take this new file and you should have a perfectly timed sample....... If not make sure your are Zooming all the way in when you cut the pieces.........

Note* You will notice that with vegas when you stretch 2 loops or more together......... after a period of time they will start to un sync with each other......just make they adjustments manually

Now as far as sampling grooves in Sound Forge that is a whole nutha subject........ the best way I can explain it is

I like song xyz....... xyz's got that vibe especially during the chorus........ I wanna sample it, but I don't wanna sample the music.... I just wanna keep the vibe and add my own music in those points......................so in retrospect you didn't sample there music you sampled a groove and added your own twist....

You'll have to become familiar with the software program as this takes having multiple files open at one time.......
