Tips on mixing backing tracks

Hey, I'm just wondering if anyone has tips on mixing the backing tracks for my song, "Xinx"
I still need to record the lead.

I'll accept any constructive criticism. Thanks!

The track sounds fine but there is no point in worrying about a mix until you actually record the lead and everything else you intend to want in the final product.

That sounds really good! Very catchy tune.

My untrained ear says the following:

- Intro guitar sounds a bit 'muddy', or "middy". Unless that's the sound you
are looking for, maybe chop some of the mid band eq.

- Also a touch of compression as the dynamics are fairly big on the stumming
parts. It's a touch loud in the mix for my liking.

Drums:

- Need a bit more volume, but may be cured by reducing the level of the
guitar.

- The snare seems weak and not really cutting through. Maybe add some
mid-mid high eq (2K-5K) and a bump it up in the mix.

Thank you so much! I uploaded a further-mixed version onto soundclick.com, so check it out again. The exported song was clipping a little, so I added a compressor to the whole song. Let me know if you notice any drastic volume change 2kickdrums... or anyone else for that matter

The guitar sounds better, but I couldn't really hear a difference with the snare.

Maybe it's because of the computer speakers.
