i need help! right now i am making demos on a standalone console with an alesis sr-16 drum machine but am finding i want to experiment with putting some classical/specialty percussion instruments like timpanis, triangles, vibraslaps, maracas etc. with my music but my drum machine does not have these sounds or the ones it has are extremely cheesy sounding at best.

are there any patches that my drum machine can pick up? or is there a better way of finding these sounds and recording with them?

any help is appreciated! thanks.

timpani is really hard to reproduce and not sound tacky.

id grab a portable rig and go to a high school band or perhaps a local orchestra and record the real thing.
I dont know, I am really against using fake instruments. I use my DAW for effects, but never plug in canned instruments. Seriously though, timpani is easy to find. What do you need???what sorts of sounds??a roll??a steady beat ala 2001 a space oddyssey???which pitch??

let me know and I can grab some for you and send them via email.

And just so you know, you cannot load new sounds into the SR-16.

There are many sample discs out there with lots of good percussion sounds. I have a set of discs I got from MasterBits that I've used a lot.
