Timing question

Hello, everyone. For some reason when i layer guitars one on top of another they never come out in the same timing. Keep in mind i never set the tempo i guess could that be? I'm kinda of new at recording so i want to know what would be the easiest way to make sure everything will sync up.

What's strange is i recorded my guitar track to the metronome(not on cubase)...then the recorded the vocals and everything seems fine and matched.... Then i recorded this whistling track and its just a hair off, Its just weird i need some advice. Thanks!

hard to say dude... is it your timing or the prog your having problems with??? lottsa people have a hard time playing in time though most wont admitt it... what's your reference when you record??? a click track or the drums youve already laid down??? see what im getting at?? or are you experiencing latency issuses with the sound card??? need more info to help...

It sounds more like a soundcard latency issue to me. Just try moving the track into position with the other one.

well im pretty good at playing in time. However, there is a delay when i do just by a hair though. Sorry what is latency? I hear it all the time. I have a soundblaster soundcard old skool.

As for the first track i recorded the guitar to a metronome. 100bps. So that was my guideline. I didnt use the cubase metronome though. I find it annoying.

When you play to an outside metronome, you need to record the metronome so you can hear it when you play the other parts.

Latency is the time it takes for the sound to get from the program to you. With soundcards that are meant from recording, that is compensated for. With your soundblaster, you will just have to deal with it.
