How do i smear the time?

Time smearing effect?

Would i just need to use alot of reverbs?

That's certainly one way to do it. I guess it depends on what you mean by smearing. When I think of smearing, I think of the effects of a poorly-written FFT algorithm (e.g. time scaling), but maybe that's just me....

Smearing Time

Just use cheap equipment. Try looping a sticky shed tape in a reel-to-reel delay and mixing back through an aux. Smear.

Things will get very smeary the more cheap equipment you put in the audio chain.

Smearing is bad.

Do you mean "Time Shifting" effects? Those are delays, like slap-back delay. Or Echo, and some reverbs will give a slight time difference.

Maybe you should take some time and learn the common monikers for what you are asking. It's tough to decifer when you are adding your own labels to these things. It makes it tough to help you when we are not sure what you want help with.

Anything that will make my audio tracks more smearing and time smearing
effects

Right now im just using like 4 reverbs to give me some smearing effects

but what other ways do you guys know, Im just looking to really smear
the time alot

Putting a delay or slap back delay don't time smear you have to route it
in a way to time smear how do i do this

Yea i guess a compressor can time smear because of the time constant
of the attack and release

I guess I can't be of much help. I still don't understand "smearing" time. When I hear "Smear", I am thinking of when you have a small stain on your carpet and you try to rub it out and it just spreads.
I can't apply that analogy to music. But maybe someone can.

yea like pouring water on a painted picture

you know how do you do this with audio using reverbs and time based

reverbs and time shifts

go to www.serato.com and download a demo of pitch and time.
Then walters...for the next thirty days, you can smear to your little hearts content.

moving the pitch and time on a audio track is just going to
make it wobble not time smear

This will be the last time i post in a walter thread.
Ive learned my lesson.
Adios.

LMFAO!!!! I love this crap. I like to smear my time by routing in some sweet, creamy butter. But don't forget to use lots of "milky" compression. That will really smear things up!

Wow....

How many tracks do i do to produce time smearing or bluring?

I don't know how to do this?

Adios.

I think if we ALL felt that way he'd just go away.

I just laid down 8 tracks on a song i did how do i smear and blur
the tracks ?

Do i use multiple reverbs? or a pitch shifter?

How do i Smear and Blur all the 8 tracks together i want them all
smearing and bluring all into eachother how do i do this?

My advice? Experiment. If you're trying to make things sound really messy, try various combinations of reverb, delay, phase shifts, speed change, etc. until you find something that sounds like what you want. You might try overlaying the sound played back at different speeds, such as you might to with DFX Transverb (free VST plug-in from http://destroyfx.smartelectronix.com/). In fact, all of their plug-ins might be useful in trying to get the effect you're looking for (though I'm still not quite sure what that is).
