Hey all...seems like I've been mixing, learning, remixing, learning more, remixing for months now.

I now have three songs close to done, whatever that means. I'd like to go much further with these, but I think my skill is limited, and I need to stop messing with them, unless someone has some suggestions.

If anyone is interested, I have three songs posted here, http://silentjband.com/discography/3d/.

Words in a Letter - I am happy with it. It's not perfect but close enough.
Life Chosen/Bullet - Life Chosen is an acoustic prelude to the song Bullet. I love how Life Chosen sounds, and Bullet is close enough but again not perfect.
Mend - This one is my nemisis. I just can't get it the way I want it, but the sound is OK.

Anyway, feedback is much appreciated.

Yo Vanilla,

Words in a Letter ...

I think it's really great! It's a great pop song. The lyrics are great. I can hear sooo many different influences, and I love the guitar solo break down. I think the production is stellar. Really has all the things I like about production values from bands like Guided By Voices. Who do I hear in it you ask? How about Guided By Voices, David Bowie, the Beatles, Matthew Sweet, the Byrds and more. You need to spend as much time production wise with all your songs, cause this one is the cream of the crop production wise. Also the strongest lyrically. Totally awesome, I really mean it!

Mend
Not nearly as good as Words in a Letter. Don't really like it. Production doesn't really do anything for me.

Life Chosen and Bullet
It's pretty promising. Don't like the soundclip in the beginning. That kind of thing is kind of overdone. The chorus is pretty catchy and the song has traces of greatness that "words in a letter" has...performance wise it's really good! Production wise, it's better than the second song but not as good as the third. I like the token"YEAH" at the very end. Someone was into it (probably the drummer:D).

Hey,

Very uplifting.

Words in a letter would be my fav. mend a close second - what about it bugs you?..and then bullet.

Thanks for the feedback guys.

I agree I think Words in a Letter has some nice production quality. I think I succeeded with that one.

On Life Chosen/Bullet...we really love the little Baltimore New intro. I know some may find it cheesy (I do to a certain point) but I think it adds to the song because the song is about B'more. Again I like the production quality here too.

Mend...I love the song...but the recording is my nemisis. I can't get it just right. It should be a loud in your face kind of mix, but there is something about it that seems quiet and muddy. It's not in your face. It's not loud, but it seems to clip to me. I dunno. I can't get it right.

No real advice, just a big kudos for Words in a Letter. Well done:D I really dig it, Id buy your CD based on this song.
