Hey, wouldn't it be a kewl idea to start a webcast music station featuring just a rotation of the music found here?

Anyone have lots of spare time on their hands?
I apparently do....but without the capabilities to do what you are asking, I am about as worthless as ......well, you get the picture. Picture....hmmmmm, that makes me think of Google.......gotta go!!! :D :D :D

I generally dislike forum rules... the whole nature of over-moderated forum etiquette and the false-front namby-pamby fake politeness of it. Hell, some forums - luckily not this one - have rules about "being nice" that in effect just tend to encourage grandiosity and BS spewage.

Do you think there’s a "code of etiquette" in the mp3 clinic? If so, what?

Not talking about language use - like someone saying fuck or shit in their posts... more about rate of thread creation, repeatedly bumping one's own threads, posting to other threads as well as one's own, critiquing style, etc.

What do you think? What kinds of posts do you think are good? What pisses you off?

Tim

All it is I think is if you like it, you post. If you don't like it you don't post. If you feel like offering advice, you post. But you wouldn't post to just say, "that sucked balls, what the fuck were you thinking?"

Yeah, that's a pretty good frame of mind. I think Tim's original thougth came from some dude that posted a tune, and about 20 minutes later, started saying everyone here sucked ass, because they didn't review his song. It was his first day here. And when I asked him if he had listened to anyone else's stuff, he jumped my shit saying it wasn't a rule to listen to any music here.
And when the reviews were less than "great stuff", he got pretty bent.
I listen to almost everything posted here, and comment on quite a bit. Sometimes I have advice, sometimes, I just state I listened. For most, it's appreciated. For some, they get pissed if you don't kiss ass.

I guess that's why my threads didn't get too many responses. :D

my newbieness makes it hard for me to comment on other peoples stuff....so is a guy like me screwed?

No. Why not listen as a listener, and tell someone what you think? If it's got a good guitar tone, or if the vox are good, say so. if you don't like it simply because you don't like that style, you don't have to comment. Most people are content with any real comment. Kissing ass, and saying you like it, when you don't, is not helpful, and neither is telling someone they suck. But good, constructive criticism is. If you don't like a song, but the drums sound good, tell em. It will eventually help them. As you get better, and get to know people more, you can elaborate on what they are trying to accomplish. They will appreciate it, and hopefully it will help you in the long run. Don't be afraid, just don't be an asshole. :D

Yep, pretty much, sorry ;)

No, just kidding :) I hung around here for a long time with no recording knowledge at all (I pretty much got anything i know from here), the way I see it... it doesn't matter how experienced of a recorder a reviewer is since the person who posted the song is most likely interested in hearing what any audience thinks of their song. So don't worry and post away! :D
