Thoughts on this mix in progress

Sounds like your kick drum is clipping badly to me and causing pumping.

I couldn't listen past about a minute due to the above, so no other feedback.
 
Yeah that kick is flapping worse than a spinnaker in a norwester.

The tune itself has potential. Vocal level is good. Everything else is kind of mushy.
 
There is potential there. As mentioned above, that kick is way too loud. As for the mix, it's kind of muddy. More panning will help it as everything seems pretty much straight down the middle at the minute.

I agree with Mr. Clean that this could be a really cool song. also agree with Armistice that the kick is loud/clipping/killing the mix.

additionally, the guitars are mushy and indistinct. Too much gain on them.

Lastly the vocal sounds much dryer than anything else.

Dont know much about mixing techniques nor her the disturbing kick :)

Personally I would do something about chord progression around 02:28 - 02:29.
 
Yup. Kick is way over compressed, and loud. Guitars are fizzy and thin (and way too low in the mix, IMO), vocals are underprocessed for this type of music, too (again personal preference).
